A while ago I remembered when a few years ago I was talking to some children in the congregation about homosexuality and a brother began to criticize me saying that how was it possible that I was talking to some children (7-10 years old) about homosexuality!
Today in schools, on networks, on television and also the government wants to fill their minds with that ideological garbage.
I am one of those who thinks that today children's Sunday school must change radically because the world that these children are going to face and are already facing is a horrible world. I think I once wrote when one of my nieces told my mom that she didn't want to be in children's Sunday school because “what they teach is stupidity” (verbatim). That was about 15 years ago and things haven't changed much.
It is necessary for parents and Sunday school teachers to understand that we are at war, they started a war and we cannot hand over the children's minds so that they can fill it with whatever they want.
Something full cannot be filled, if we fill children's minds with the truth, no one will be able to fill them with lies. Oh I would love for some pastor or children's teacher to read this!
I went through Sunday school, I saw almost all my nieces go through Sunday school. Several times with my sister Jessica I stayed at the children's Sunday school to see what they were doing and it's really time to stop the stupidity.
That you have to treat them like children. Of course! You have to give them fun lessons. Of course! I still remember in December that she was telling my mom some very strong truths and she did it with such fun! I had problems with that myself, I got bored easily in class. When I moved on from teaching I looked for strategies to make my classes as less boring as possible and IF YOU CAN!
Nobody says that you have to bore them, the truth can be taught in a fun way without doing ridiculous or stupid things, or spending all the time playing and for that they must have creativity and you have to pray. Today it seems that Sunday school is just for understanding. I once told a children's teacher: "You have to treat them as if you were training the next Spurgeon, the next Wesley, the next Edwards, the next Finney, the next Wilkerson... but children's teachers don't see it that way, They only see that they are entertaining the children while their parents are listening to the preaching.
Sometimes they are treated as stupid, as idiots, as mentally retarded. They are children, not idiots. And today the world they are facing is a battle for their minds; Prepare them for that, and remember "Something full cannot be filled." If their minds are full of biblical truths (and a basic biology book) the lie goes away.
